Dawn, the early morning light, can be a particularly inspiring subject to capture the beauty of a new day. A new day literally and figuratively. When a cycle ends, it's time to turn the page and rewrite what needs to be written. Events become clearer and clearer as the morning fog dissipates. Being inspired by Villa Isabella, largely by the mystery surrounding it, the villa seemed to me to be filled with meaning when I woke up one very early morning. A message that I understood and accepted. Listening is a quality and this colorful morning was like a reward sent by nature.
Passionate about oil painting techniques of the old masters and inspired by this unique building, I used glazing to create subtle shifts in color and texture that mimic the delicate quality of dawn's light, by building up layers of translucent paint. At the same time, I focused on two main contrasting colors for the whole painting, only changing tones and shades.
